COVERACK, CORNWALL

Coverack is a coastal village in Cornwall, England. It is situated on The Lizard peninsula.

Coverack is a pretty little fishing village with a small protected harbour. A haven on a rocky and dangerous coast. There's a large, crescent-shaped beach in the sheltered bay, ideal for swimming and windsurfing. Both fishing boats and pleasure craft are moored in the small harbour which is built out of local serpentine, and the old lifeboat house and slipway, are reminders of a past rich in maritime adventure.

Coverack contains a number of hotels and a Youth Hostel. The area is a centre for watersports, particularly wind surfing, sailing and diving. The nearby Manacles Rocks were the site of many shipwrecks and are now a favourite diving destination.

Time your visit right and you'll catch some of Coverack's many events. The Coverack Singers perform in the village hall and there are beach barbecues, an annual carnival, regatta and lifeboat day.
